Privacy Policy

This policy describes what CA Life Exam Prep collects, why, and what you can do about it. It reflects how the service actually works today. It is a factual description, not legal advice.

What we collect

Your email address, so you can sign in. We never ask for or store a password — sign-in is a one-time link sent to your inbox.

Your study activity: which questions you answered, what you chose, whether it was correct, how long you took, and your mock exam attempts and scores. This is what produces your readiness estimate, your per-section mastery and your wrong-answer notebook. Without it the product has nothing to show you.

Optional details you choose to give us: your preferred language, your target exam date, and whether you agreed to be contacted about related services.

A short fingerprint of your sign-in session, used only to enforce one active device per account. We never store your session token itself, so a database leak cannot be replayed as a session.

Visit counts

We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views and to see which pages, and which referring sites, bring visitors here. It sets no cookies, builds no profile of you, and counts visits only in aggregate, so it cannot tell us who you are or follow you to another site. We do not use advertising pixels, session recorders, Google Analytics, or any other third-party tracking.

What we do not collect

We never see or store your card details. Payments go directly to Stripe.

Who else processes your data

Supabase hosts our database and handles authentication. Resend delivers the sign-in emails. Stripe processes payments and holds the card details we never see. Vercel hosts and serves the site. Each of these sees only what it needs to do its job.

Selling or sharing

We do not sell your personal information. Your information can be shared in only two cases: you opted in to be contacted about related insurance services, or you chose to share your progress with the team that referred you (see the next section). Both are off unless you switch them on. You can withdraw either at any time, and the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" page always overrides them; submitting it turns both off.

Team referral links

If you signed up through a team leader's QR code or link, we record on your account which team brought you in. That team's leader can see how many people signed up through them and how that group is doing overall (for example, how many practised in the last week and their median readiness), but not who you are.

Only if you tick "Share my email and practice progress with the team that referred me" on the sign-in page can the leader see your email, how many questions you have answered, your readiness and when you last practised. The box is unticked by default, and leaving it unticked does not limit anything you can do here. You can turn it off at any time under Study Setup, after which the leader counts you only in their totals.

So that the right team is recorded even when you open the sign-in email in a different browser, we briefly note your email address and the team link when the email is sent. The note is deleted once you sign in, and is no longer used after 7 days if you do not.

Your rights in California

Under the CCPA and CPRA you can ask us what we hold about you, ask for a copy, ask us to delete it, and opt out of any sale or sharing. Exercising these rights never costs you service or a worse price. Use the "Do Not Sell or Share" link in the footer, or email support@califeprep.com; both routes work, and the email route needs no account.

How long we keep it

Your study history stays while your account exists, because it is what your readiness estimate is computed from. Ask us to delete your account and it goes with it. Records we are required to keep for tax or accounting reasons are kept for as long as the law requires and no longer.

Children

This service is for adults pursuing a California insurance licence. It is not directed at anyone under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects you, the date at the top changes and we will say what changed.
